The Open Badges standard and movement is a massive success story. Conceived in the corner of a room during the Mozilla Drumbeat Festival in 2010. As we enter 2017 there is a vibrant and healthy ecosystem — including huge multinationals like Cisco, Salesforce, and Microsoft, as well as universities, schools, non-profits, and individuals who just want to recognise learning wherever and however it happens.
To coincide with the transfer of Open Badges from Mozilla to IMS Global Learning Consortium, we’ve partnered with three foundational sponsors to create a bi-weekly newsletter known simply as Badge News. It will provide the latest updates around the Open Badges standard, as well as featured articles from the community, recently-published academic papers, and innovative uses of badges.
The first issue of Badge News hits inboxes on Friday 6th January 2017. If you’ve got anything you think would be a perfect fit for the newsletter, please get in touch! Email: badgenews@weareopen.coop

Many thanks to Badgr, Credly, and Open Badge Factory who have ensured, through their foundational sponsorship, the establishment and sustainability of this new venture.

We Are Open Co-op works to spread the culture, processes, and benefits of openness wherever we can.
