Over the past six months, with the support of Participate and the Open Recognition Alliance, we’ve been building Badge Wiki, a knowledge repository for the Open Badges community. Today, it’s time for launch!
>>> Check out Badge Wiki here <<<
The wiki is a growing collection of information about Open Badges, including:
- The basics — what are badges? why use them?
- Examples — who’s using them? in what situations?
- Getting started — what options are there for issuing? do I have to ask permission for anything?
By ‘launching’ this wiki at the Open Badges Summit today, we’re making a call for participation. The infrastructure is set up, the wiki has a straightforward editor familiar to anyone who’s ever used a word processor. All that’s required is requesting an account, and getting started!
If you’ve got a case study, an example of a well-designed badge, a useful presentation, or anything that you think would be of use to the wider community, put it on Badge Wiki! The great thing about wikis is that you can change the structure on-the-fly. It’s what makes Wikipedia so successful.

Please do get involved. We’d like to thank the following 49 people, listed in alphabetical order, who have given up their time over the last six months to breathe life into Badge Wiki:

We’ve issued, or are in the process of issuing, a Badge Wiki barn raising badge to all of the above in recognition of their contribution. Whether it’s commenting on an etherpad during a community call, or writing several pages on the wiki, we value every kind of input into building this knowledge repository.
We’re going to continue meeting on a monthly basis to ensure the long-term success of Badge Wiki. Join us on December 13th to discuss badges for contributors, sustainability in 2018 and beyond, and what we should focus on next!
The best way to get updates is to join our Loomio group. And, of course, the best way to build this knowledge repository is to request an account, roll up your sleeves, and get started!
